About South Dubbo Junior League 50th Anniversary
Past and present players, coaches, committee members, families and supporters are invited to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the South Dubbo Junior Rugby League Club.
South Dubbo Junior League was established in 1967 and trained at the South Dubbo oval, near South Dubbo High school. There is talk that they played in a green playing strip, perhaps the schools football jerseys, but this is unconfirmed. Some time in the mid 70’s they changed there name to “South Dubbo Tigers JRL” and wore an Orange and black jersey with a Tigers logo.
We are not sure of the date, but in the late 80’s or possibly the early 90’s they changed again to the current name and branding “South Dubbo Raiders JRL” with a blue on blue jersey. The logo was based on the Canberra Raiders design.
While we continue with this design the logo has undergone several minor changes of the last 20+ years.
The current committee are organising a night that will bring together as many past and present members of the club as possible to celebrate this incredible achievement.
On Saturday the 23rd of July from 6.00pm the club will be hosting an evening at the Dubbo Trotting track, Dubbo Showground. The cost on the night is $25 (plus a $1.00 booking fee) a head with finger food and bar facilities (cash only). This will be an over 18’s function. No person will be admitted after 8pm without prior approval. There will be security guards on duty throughout the night.
As a prelude to the night there will be a match at 11.50am between our current U16’s and St.Johns JRL, this will be played at Caltex Park. They will be wearing a commemorative Orange and black striped playing jersey based on the 70’s and 80’s playing days. The players jerseys will be raffled at later that night.
We will have displays of photo’s and other club memorabilia to view. Please contact Mr Brandon on 0422920805 if you have a tigers playing jersey that you would be willing to display on the night (or any photos etc).
There will also be merchandise for sale on the night jerseys $50, caps, stubby holders etc.
Dress on the night will be in club colours, old jerseys or supporter wear if you are able (or still fit into!).
