About Summer Sonatas and Susurrus of Seascapes in Queenscliff
Join us for one last concert in 2023, William Vyvyan Murray has recently returned to our shores after a successful stint performing around Europe - and is excited to present a concert featuring 300 years worth of great music for solo viola!
The program will open with a Prayer by Khatia Tiutiutinnik, a wonderful contemporary Australia composer and violist, continue with Elegies and Lullabies by Igor Stravinsky, Elena Kats-Chernin and Ilse Weber before Johann Sebastian Bach’s beautiful sonata for solo viola in C minor.
After a tea and cookie break we will continue with a work by the stunning Jessie Montgomery - one of America’s most celebrated contemporary composers, a beautiful sonata by the legendary Paul Hindemith before finishing with a work composed by the performer.
Inspired by the Gibigiana of the sea - the famous Milanese word for the play of light reflecting from the water, William Vyvyan Murray and Domenyk Eades combined their forces last March toe create a visual and musical performance exhibition that pulled inspiration from the tidal states of the Southern Coast.
This is the first performance in Queenscliff of William’s Susurrus of the Sea - a sonata for solo viola.
