About First Nations Storytime
A special storytime for children as well as adults, featuring readings by First Nations authors from the NT, followed by a discussion about how and why they made their books, and the importance of language, visual art, and passing stories on.
Warlpiri writer and artist Maureen Nampijimpa O’Keefe will share her charming book Mum’s Elephant; Ngukurr Elder, author and artist Karen Rogers will read her stunning story Main Abija | My Grandad, written in both Kriol and English; and local authors from Children’s Ground will read from their beautiful bilingual books for children — Iwenhe Nenhe? What’s This?, Apmwe Iwenhe? What Snake?, and Our Languages.
Ticket revenue covers less than 15% of the cost of running the NT Writers Festival. Each year we keep tickets prices accessible and include free programs for the community.
