About Singing Day with Akasa and Makepisi
A joyous day of singing workshops and a concert with a cappella groups Akasa and Makepisi.
Akasa perform passionate vocal and rhythmic songs combining exceptional songwriting and musicianship to create a truly distinctive sound. Influenced by sounds and cultural movements from across the globe, Akasa's music is relevant and empowering.
Makepisi: In the style of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, this 5-piece acappella male vocal group showcases powerful voices hailing from South African choirs and shows that have toured internationally including the Lion King. Their rich, invigorating sound is guaranteed to inspire and uplift.
Spend a day in the acoustically beautiful Meeniyan Hall singing with and listening to these wonderful groups. in the morning at 11am there will be 2 concurrent workshops - you choose between attending a workshop led by Akasa or one led by Makepisi. (Tough choice, we know!) Workshop participants are invited to showcase their workshop songs in the afternoon concert, which starts at 2pm and features both of our guest groups.
