About Statues Alive: Songs of Robert Burns and Thomas Moore
Ballarat’s elegant statues of Robert Burns and Thomas Moore have inspired this varied and enjoyable afternoon concert. What led early residents of the city to want to commemorate these very different figures? The answer is their marvellous poetry, full of beauty, humour and longing, set to haunting traditional Celtic melodies.
Singer Darryl Emmerson, pianist Joseph Bourke and violinist Peter O’Shea present a folk and semi-classical program of some of the most famous songs in Irish and Scottish music, as well as some intriguing rarities, in the splendid setting of Opulance Restaurant, right in the heart of Ballarat. You can walk down from the station, and there is plenty of parking and good disabled access.
Audiences are warmly invited to arrive from 2pm to enjoy refreshments before the event itself at 3pm. Come early and enjoy!
Children Under 16 are free and require no ticket.
