We are set up by current and past serving Australian Military Personnel and their Families. Nationally, we aim to provide funds for research that are not encumbered by political and/or Departmental outcomes. Our research funds will be directed to current identified needs within the Australian Military Community and will be conducted via the Australian Families of the Military Research Program currently run at the University of New England.

Locally, we aim to increase awareness of the Non- Military Population of some of the issues that Military families face and increase awareness of services provided by the General community that can be utilised by Military families, to promote and improve social cohesion. We are doing this by Celebrating our Military Community Promotion.

We have recognized the issues faced by partners of Australian Military and identified major factors that impact on partners of Australian Military Veterans health and well being, from our previous research. However, a large majority of those cohorts were from Vietnam Era. Our aim now is to do a scoping study on the general Domestic Function/ Dysfunction consisting of current or recent serving Military families. Domestic Dysfunction can include (and not limited to) alcohol, drugs, destructive social behaviour, violence, mental health, well-being and very importantly intergenerational impacts. We hope to be able to identify the positive effects of being part of an Australian Military family in order to discover the best approach/es to assist all our Military families. This requires a minimum of $30,000. We are also working towards addressing the issues of children of Military Families firstly via research, then a running a pilot program to address the issues. This will use the same model of the positives as the Family Function.

All monies raised will go to these projects and then a longitudinal lifespan type study with this and future cohorts.
